Memories of May

buzz and his walking tent
can it be that may has come and gone, only a memory?!!i guess i'll just write a few thoughts down and call it good.  i love the spring when everything turns green and blooms.  we even got some rain on our hay to pretty things up and hopefully give us some much-needed moisture!  not a lot...but some, just enough to give us grief, but we'll take it!

we had 17 kittens born to 3 sisters in 3 days.  no typo.  no lie.  that tom cat was in heaven and ben sent him to his heavenly home thereafter.  they were so darn cute.  then...one mother got hit by the swather out here.  so, ben went out and bought the kitties their own milk and bottles, and gave me a lecture on how can i let a baby animal die?  (only to be grown up and shot by him later??!) ha!  it makes no sense.  i begged and pleaded with the animal shelter...and they took them.  then, something killed all but one of the other batch down in the window well.  that mother was beside herself, so she took over her sister's litter until we gave all away but one.  and that was a funny one too.  the wild mama bit one of our ward members when she was adamant on taking her home without a pet carrier.  good times, good times.  they are great mousers though...and bring mice in every morning.  and there are a lot of mice!  so many, we lost a full field of corn to them.  and they now are testing positive for the plague.  i guess i'll keep the cats to kill the mice...
little emerson graduated from pre-school!  the songs and rhymes they did were absolutely adorable!

the boys got to go with grandma and grandpa to cedar city for cousin rose's baby blessing the first weekend in may.  ben was busy swathing and i had stake camp meetings i couldn't get out of.  they got to visit zion's park and have a wonderful time with cousins!  we celebrated ben's birthday and visited a few friends at kelly c's party and at the parkhurst's.  the girls and i made him a delicious strawberry pie.  speaking of strawberries, they came on earlier this year...and of course, were quite delicious.
bubbles with grandpa before we headed out to decorate graves

finally some new shoes the last week of school
next we got a batch of ducks, chickens, and turkeys.  i did all the work myself.  bridon is supposed to be my helper.  i guess by now, i am a poultry pro.  the ducks were adorable and have grown so quickly!  turkeys too.  the garden had a slow start.  ben pulled the compost spreader in and attempted a roto-till until another small engine bit the dust.  they are my nemesis.  if i had all the $ from those...
we moved a pivot down the road to the gibbens farm!  not a sight you see everyday. ben was up on top hooking everything up the week after.  the folks who bought the hockberger place couldn't save the field this one was on from the original owners who are turning it into houses.  more houses...lame.

mother's day with the ones i love!  and a hike to table rock was one of my birthday presents

here are some funny things the kids have said lately...
at kid checkups, dr:  no smoking in your home right?
me: no
bentley:  mom...what about all the fireplace fires??
my first field trip with bentley!  to celebration park
bridon: what's 9 plus 6?
me:  figure it out....15.  why?
bridon:  if me and bentley are both driving together on the rakes, then that would make us old enough to run them!  (kid logic, so cute)
when emerson anticipates something coming, she asks how many "go to beds, go to beds, go to beds" it will be until the day gets here.  funny.  and bentley was interested in learning about cremation, so i told him.  he didn't catch the 'ation' part.  so just recently, he told me "so and so is going to a memorial since their grandma got creamed."
last day of school

of course there was more camp!!!  visiting pine top
miss ellee lyn cheesing it up
lots of ladybugs on the header!
hot enough for the water slide 1st week of may
