Jump Creek and Liberty Butte Hikes

we've gone on a few hikes so far...i attempted to take bridon, emerson, and bentley afterschool on my birthday to liberty butte.  i turned 35!  a few family members remembered:) that's what i get for not using face book. ha!  i left ellee with a little neighbor girl and off we went.  emerson had a cheat grass attack not even half way up.  drat!  apparently her mother had not thought that thru well enough.  pant, socks, hat, running shoes...should have had boots, leather ones at that!  the boys were a little bummed, but we'll try again this summer!!

we've also been preparing to do the 2 mile fun run on the 4th of july together as a family.  ben works out a couple of times a week and i take the kids running in the evening.  so far, i think we can all do it if i can get bridon moving:)!  this nite, he decided to keep the dust storm we got caught in out of his face by wearing his batman belt around his mouth and wielding 'the statue of liberty'!  emerson wore his cape.  not sure what bentley has going on.  we had to take a quick shelter break at the office...

and, this past saturday, ben and i and all the kids went for a quick adventure up to jump creek.  we packed a lunch and let ellee walk herself.  she is crazy!  it was very dusty and very busy!  we even saw a family we knew.  instead of sticking around the falls (because of the crowd), we explored a few rock 'caves' and had our lunch down under the rocks and trees next to the creek.  the kids had a blast and it was very easy and fast since it's just a few miles from the house.  hopefully we can explore some more soon!
