Killer Heat Wave

last week we had over 100 degrees for 6 days in row!  it was a scorcher..it even killed one of our laying hens.  may she rip, poor old girl...although she wasn't old!  i even had a fan going, fresh water...and we spritzed them (not fond of).  this week in the 90's feels like fall or something.  the kids and i would get up early to do our chores and each morning whack down some more of the perennials that i always let get too big!! (thus the dumpster pic, the boys were my wheelbarrell drivers).

we tried to beat the heat going to the pool a few times with new friends from the ward-yah!  kids our age that want to hang out with us!  keeping up on the watering was nuts, but i am not complaning.  i have automatic sprinklers, i just have to turn the different valves and stuff and crank the main gate- no hoses!  the garden loved the heat apparantly because we started eating loads of produce.  the kids picked peas, bridon harvested a whole swath of carrots, some too small still :( , beets, brocolli, squash.  all sorts!  it's always a novelty at first...till i have to start canning it all :).

all the pipe changer boys were gone to church camp, so ben and his crew moved all their lines starting at 5:40 am to try to not sweat too death.  then his air conditioner couldn't keep up.  top of the line machine, not as good of air conditioner, poor ben.  we are done with 2nd and the boys go every chance their dad will take them.  i sometimes get a phone picture of bridon passed out, covered in grease.  emerson started going pee on her potty today consistently.  pretty exciting, hopefully i don't jinx us.  bridon cut his own hair for the 2nd time yesterday, so tonite he got a buzz.  tragic, kind of orphan-like, but he scalped himself pretty good.  he still wears hats like crazy; i had to talk him out of a stocking hat last week and his signature, 2 shirts...i tried to keep up with my running, but ben is usually around only once, maybe twice a week before10.  we went one nite, but i couldn't push both kids and run.  bentley rode his bike and i have never seen a 6 year old so sweaty.  i think it was still like 95 at 7:30!

i had an ultrasound this week.  i've never had one this far along and the dr. is so crazy.  she's like, what?  why are you getting an ultrasound??? you can't!  so i didn't.  she just checked the heartbeat and then she looked to see if it's a girl or a boy!  what?  she can't know!  anyhow, i say boy because she knew in like 2 seconds, but i never know.  no maternal instincts like that i guess...

i try do atleast one fun thing with the kids during the week, sometimes it ends up more if we're invited, but this afternoon we went to lakeview park swim pool.  when we left, all three were crying.  emerson wouldn't go pee pee in her swim diaper or the nasty toilets, so she was crying/screaming.  bridon hit his head coming down the water slide and then decided he didn't want to leave afterall, so crying over both.  then bentley, usually not a crier, broke his goggles on his last ride and they are his beloved green and blue ones that he had to have every second.  next time, we will all leave with smile.  hope everyone survived the heat!

It's 10:30 now and 99 outside. :) Next four days are 106, 108, 106, and 106. But Monday should only be 99! Why did we move here?
Anyway, I am so impressed with everything you do! I guess you have little helpers and you've been in your house a lot longer than I've been in mine. But really, you are amazing! I was just proud of myself for pulling out some weeds in my front yard. I am impressed!

Thanks for writing! Keep going and cool off whenever you can! I love Bridon's picture of him on the bike with his PJ's on! Quite a kid!
