we finally got away for our only trip of the summer. it was all last minute, but came together nicely. we got down to my grandpa's after picking beans, packing the kitchen sink, and ben irrigating...and made it in time for the rodeo for park valley's 24th of july celebration. while we were enjoying the most delicious hamburger on earth that ben was finally privileged to enjoy, the "hamdinger", a downpour started! and it didn't stop!the rodeo grounds were soaked and we were soaked, but the hamdingers were still the best! by 8, the action started up and mom, gpa, us, and the wright's enjoyed watching our cousins and the natives until 10. then we called it a nite...the rest didn't get done until 12! at that time, bridon decided to start up.
i'm not sure whether someone fed him a creamie or maybe some chocolate milk, but we had a couple of rough nites, as usual on our vacation.
sunday, church was refreshing there in the valley. it is the perfect mix of young and old with a definite focus on people, not programs :)! it is fun to visit with those i know and see how everyone's doing. that evening we all went out to 'hatches' and camped out. we all brought stuff to share and mom made her famous pepsi chicken in the dutch oven. it sure was good!! we hiked around a bit and listened to grandpa's stories, then set up camp. uncle del put in a little cabin, so ben, me, bridon, cherilyn, and kassie slept in there, while everyone else braved the tent.
cherilyn was a little worried, but ben assured her that he was by the door and if anything came in, it would eat him first and be full! :) so she went to sleep. but bridon didn't, and neither did tylee. ahh, the joys of camping. but, you know what they wouldn't have slept if we had paid to sleep in the sun valley lodge either, so what'ya do?!
we made a day of monday by driving with lisa and her kids to the brigham city pool. bentley and blaiz had a blast and were sad to leave! we packed a picnic and had a fun time together on the slides and such. that nite, we drove to burley and went over to gossner's for some supper with mom and had an ice cream cone with alan and whitney before she headed off to work at the loonie bin! we even saw dad and visited for a bit after he came home from his single adult duties! thx everyone for the great time...a little hard to get everything under control back here at home, but worth it! i thought about some of the greatest things i have learned from my family...and those are to work hard, live a modest life, and remember that life isn't always going to be fair for you or for anyone else, so live with it and help others along the way!
