did your folks or grandparents call it that? mine did, so i thought i'd use the phrase just for fun! bentley, bridon, and i took off sunday after our meetings and headed down to mom and dad's, leaving ben behind in the hay (literally).
we enjoyed an evening of meatballs, decorating graves in a HUGE windstorm (typical), visiting alan & whitney, aunt carolee, and taking the bridge pictures. on monday, we loaded up and went to park valley where we met gpa, all the cousins there, lisa and eldon and family, and aunt cheryl and uncle glen. we had a wonderful day putting out flowers in the cemetery (no, it doesn't have grass, that's the novelty of it),
cleaning up grandpa's yard, having a picnic, and exploring the old houses for treasures. we even got a rain storm (and hail on the flowers on the graves), but it was much needed...the little boys had a blast making mud pies in it. the valley was green and beautiful to me! i love going out there and being with family and taking in the desert and mountains. i hope we will always have reason to visit!

So glad you were able to make the journey and come down for "decoration day." Come visit again! We love you!
My parents and grandparents called it "decoration day" too! Must be a Utah/Idaho thing. I always remember putting together bouquets for the graves that weekend. Whenever I smell iris(my mom calls them flags) or snowballs, or lilacs it always reminds me of Memorial day because that was what was blooming at that time. Sweet memories.
