our fun, birthday week(s) came in march! bentley turned 9 on march 11th and emerson 5 on march 19th. bentley wanted everyone that could to come over for cake and ice cream after school on his birthday, so we had family and the neighbor boys over. he got a bow and arrow, new irrigation/work boots from cabellas, and a boise state shirt. there was a pending harrow that he had asked for. what 9 years old kid asks for a harrow? only bentley! agri-service had a spare one, but we decided to wait a bit for him to become a harrower! the girls and i made him a chocolate volcano cake. it wasn't my best creation, how can i top a lawn mower?! but it was all from scratch and delicious! he requested fish tacos for his dinner and then went to scouts that nite. i even let him stay and play with his friends a little bit afterwards:). he got to go to breakfast with grandma and grandpa mcintyre and he got a cool book set (which he read in like 4 days), a football, and a volcano set from grandma and grandpa moncur. we even had a cake there for him while we were visiting for the funeral. the very next day he took his brand, new football to school and someone stole it :(. bentley is growing up on me! when i sent his portrait out that i took, everyone commented on how grown up he looks in it! he also thinks he is pretty hot stuff when ben lets him drive this old ranger of spencer's home from the shop. i love my nine year old boy. he keeps me on my toes that is for sure. he has a zest for life, and can make you laugh so hard, yell so loud, or plain want to lose your marbles all in a day! he is smart, and works hard. he has always wanted to be older and has that kind of personality where you just expect more from him. with all of his willpower, channeled in the right direction, he will go far!
little emerson turned 5! i can't believe it. she is finally getting into a 'remission' on her latest flare up. she has been sleeping better and her hair loss is slowing down, although this one has been the worst she's experienced. we are still trying hard with her special diet of no dairy products and only duck eggs. her birthday cake was a bit of a challenge! it looked pretty awesome and was edible for her, but not the tastiest for the rest of us:). i made her duck meringue frosting and tinted it blue for a frozen, elsa. she went on a fun, scavenger hunt to find her frozen bike at the shop.
we went on the 4-wheeler, around to the cows, up the canal, and then back. fun! we played at the park until ellee had an accident on the slide. she got some cute clothes and some fun dresses that were made by both of her grandmas. she requested hawaiian haystacks for dinner and then got to go with henley, ezra, and grandma mcintyre to see 'cinderella' while the rest of us went to pack meeting and basketball. we did a fun picture of her for her birthday portrait in the orchard. the blossoms are early this year. we love our emerson. she is my right-hand helper and has really come out of her shell the past, couple of years. she is sugar and spice and everything nice. happy birthday to both of you!

Both him and Emerson are getting so big...such cute kids! And your cakes look amazing.
You do such a nice job writing about your kids. Someday they will cherish the time and talent you gave to make each year special for them.
