Starting out December with the NFR

we jumped right into december after thanksgiving with lots of projects and lots of festivities.  we had our company party at the sandbar, emerson's christmas dance recital, putting up our decorations and lots of other, fun stuff.  here is emerson waiting for the pickup to get pulled around to pick up the tree at costco (she is under the avocado box) while there was freezing rain/snow.  we have resorted to buying a tree the last few years.  we shall see in the future....:)
we also butchered all of our chickens to make room for the pigs, and because they weren't laying.  we will get chicks in the spring.  emerson got to go with ben to take them in and got one, good egg!  she wasn't happy about the whole thing...when she saw them on the killing cones, she burst into tears and he had to take her outside.

my christmas cactus from grandma kunzler was the victim of a play fort gone awry.  it was even blooming.  i am still in search of the perfect pot for it...hoping it bounces back!

and, on december 11th, i worked very hard to line everything up so both ben and i could go to the nfr with brad and jill!!  agri-service paid for the hotel (monte carlo), one nite at the rodeo, and 2 meals...we just had to get there.  we flew out in the afternoon on thursday and flew back on saturday afternoon.  it was a lot of fun!  the rodeo is awesome, and vegas in general, seemed more toned down.  we went out to eat thurs nite with agco and then watched the rodeo on the big screen at our hotel, afterwards we played $5 black jack.  it was actually pretty fun and i made a little money.  friday, we shopped and then had brunch with agri-service.  that day, we went with brad and jill and walked over to the titanic and bodies displays at the luxor.  i liked the titanic stuff the most.  it was awesome and sad all at the same time...
we hob-nobbed around a few shops, including the big hershey's place and then made our way out to the convention center on a shuttle.  as we were coming in to find some food, we started looking around at the patriotic swather below outside the agco tent and they invited ben and i to come in and eat.  it was delicious and perfect before the rodeo!  the rodeo was all business.  the kimzey kid in the bull riding was ridiculous and a good watch!  glad we could go!!!  it's fun to get away sometimes.  we haven't gone together out of town since bentley was a baby to washington dc, and it was fun to go with brad and jill.

meanwhile, back at home, grandma and grandpa helped the kiddos the first day and then some friends from the ward.  on friday nite, camille came out and they made cookies and fusuable bead creations galore.  they were in great hands the whole time...thanks to everyone for making it possible. we got home in plenty of time to decorate the sugar cookies and feed and water livestock with batman and our other helpers:).
