Work...

it seems there is always a lot to do to keep us busy!  so many weeds to spray and pull and things to take care of.  one nite, we took dinner out to nederend's in oregon for dad and bentley.  bridon stayed too and tested out his batman suit on the top of the baler.  yes, that is a bat up there!
we harvested our nectarines.  the tree was loaded!!!  while i was gone, we lost quite a few to birds.  we would have easily had two, huge boxes if they had not gobbled a bunch.  the tragedy occurred during picking.  i asked the boys to be super careful, but did not explain why.  not sure if that would have helped anyway...but, bentley reached for some fruit that was a little high for him and pulled down on the center branch of the tree.  it snapped in half.  the middle of our nectarine tree is now missing :(  time will heal i hope!

ben gets out very early in the morning to move cattle and change the wheeline and pipe on the cattle project. the kids help a lot.  so far profitability on this project is in the toilet.  we've sold a few and it didn't go well, but crossing our fingers for a little better success.  it sure is a lot of work, but i guess a good learning/working project for kids???!

everyone loves the combine!  here we are combining triticale at gibbens.  ellee and i rode the bike over to check things out and we got a lot of dust our way!  ben drove the truck most of the time, but had a few days he ran the machine while brad was away on the pioneer trek.

canning has begun!  we have canned pickled beets, pickles, applesauce, and beans, and dried apricots and nectarines.  we tried to have a picking race a few nites ago...me against bentley and bridon.  we ended up with a 6 gallon bucket of beans. still lots more to do, but glad we have some of it behind us:)!!!
