Buzz Strikes Again

i nicknamed bridon 'buzz' after he cut his own hair twice this summer.  i hid the scissors.  but recently, i put the safety kid scissors back in the cupboard.  fast forward...
yesterday i was finally able to sit in relief society and enjoy the lesson.  the talks in sacrament meeting were also so good...  i have been wanting to do better with creating a strong 'family culture' mentioned in gen. conference.  anyhow, my patience has been wearing thin, so today i started anew with an idea from the lesson to not raise your voice in your home.  you decide on the experiment.  it began this morning.  after breakfast my leg was hurting so bad i laid down for a few minutes before getting out the door for pre-school.   emerson came running in telling me boy cut her hair.  and that he did.  to the scalp.  it was sad.  he also filled the sink up while i was gone to the office and soaked his high moisture corn.  he broke the handle on the toilet.  he told me he couldn't put his crayons in his box because it was too hard.  i told him if he could figure out how to cut his sister's hair to the scalp, he could figure out how to put the crayons back in the box.  i may have raised my voice slightly, but i didn't yell once today.  bridon wanted to sing 'nephi's courage' tonite for fhe.  he loves the song and sings all the words nice and loud.  afterwards, i decided to use the opportunity to talk about nephi and how he did what the lord commanded and did not cause trouble by buzzing his sister's hair and breaking the toilet.  bentley piped up and said, 'they didn't have toilets! ' so ben said, 'sure they did'.  and he replied back, 'well, they didn't have toilets on the ship, i know that.'  no idea if a lesson was learned?  it's only hair. it's not a real tragedy (even though i can't look at her hair and not be sad). a real tragedy occurred this weekend with an aunt of mine. my heart and all our prayers go out to her.

ah, she is still cute! good thing you are writing all of this down--your kids will love it! you may even be able to laugh about it...when her hair has grown back again! :)

Her hair doesn't look too bad in the picture... It reminds me of when I see pictures of myself when I was little. Just little wisps of hair here and there. Maybe her hair is meant to be short. Bridon (the Buzz)will probably be a engineer someday! He likes to see how things work or don't... Good luck with your experiment!

I've been trying to do better to not yell at my kids, too! It can be really hard sometime, though, can't it? I'm glad I'm not the only mom that has kids that do infuriating things! Try to look on the bright side; we'll have better stories to tell when the kids are older!
