...it's go time! does anyone else have this thing that they are able to accomplish way more when it's atleast showing sunlight outside? i am just in a higher speed on days when the sun is shining! it's been teasing us lately with about every third day being nice! ben's been changing water and just started cutting triticale and hay yesterday. we finally moved the mountain of dirt off the garden from digging a hole for the trampoline. after two tilling attempts (sorry, ben, but i had that sucker cleared and waiting for you last october), bentley and i
finally have a good half of the garden in as well as all the new strawberries in the box (i had a morning glory outbreak and had to kill all my old patch :( ). bentley is a great little helper. he still loves to work. instead of practicing t-ball with him, i instead, teach him how to run a shovel. yikes! well, nobody's gonna down him for being a hard worker in the end, even if he's not a ball star. ha (although i do hope he has the chance to have a little bit more fun with sports than i did growing up)! it's been crazy business getting everything in with the wind always blowing, the boys wanting to help, she-ra the dog trying to eat everything (she was banished this week to the shop for digging up all my freshly planted ornamental grasses, etc!!!) , and then bob, the stray cat who is now expecting...most likely, siamese kittens, trying to run up my back and clawing me through my hoodie. what in the world? it all makes me laugh though. i'm sure i am still quite up tight, but so many things don't seem to bother me too much anymore, at least not the little stuff. why a look at these pictures and i see many things...there's emerson eating sand in the sandbox (it's just dirt), bridon with his 'big' shoes that h
e loves(he's practically ruined a brand-new pair of shoes i bought for him for later), bentley's bogg boots (they're disgraceful; he has a new pair but why tear them up when these work fine, but just look bad?) my boys' hair (i swore i would never let my kids go around with their hair all shaggy and unkempt--who cares...at least until sunday :) !), the little green tractor that is no longer with us because it and the
red wagon got ran over by the car on the way to a yw camp meeting (oh well, at least it wasn't a kid, RIP), and remember those days when i had one child and sometimes took a nap when he took a nap...or how anal i was about sticking to afternoon naps at age two? look at those boys, passed out in the back of ben's pickup after checking w
ater. bridon will now be up till 10 driving bentley nuts and then an ornery mess the next morning. i'm doing the best i can here, trying not to yell as much, not sweating the small stuff. we still have rules, we still have schedules, we still try to teach them not to de-stroy everything they come in contact with, but this is us, rain or shine!!!

I love the picture up top. Your kids are so cute and growing so fast. :)Britney
Haha! I love reading this about you. I'm glad you can let go a little. :) I think I let too much go in some ways and spend my time worrying about things that do not matter at all. Happy birthday tomorrow! Enjoy your day.
haha! isn't it funny how things change the more kids you have? i laugh about that all the time.
They look like they are happy--which is what matters, right?!
You are such a good mom, maria. You definitely worry about the right things and let the other stuff slide. Thanks for inspiring me today :)
And most of all...you are a mom who gets it. Remember to keep an eternal perspective, which you are!! I love the pictures of the boys passed out!
I have always loved the advice of Sister Hinckley when it comes to mothering. One of her basic philosophies of rearing children was "Never to say 'no' if I could possibly say 'yes'. It gave her children the feeling that she trusted them and they were responsible to do the best they could. Just keep doing 'your best'!
Wow! Sounds like you are super busy! I laughed so hard about your Bob the cat story! How funny! We would have stopped by when we came through but it was a super quick trip! I need to get your phone number so next time we can plan eating in Boise with you guys!
