Trotting, Turkey, and Trees...

we celebrated thanksgiving at my parents' house for a few days. we were all jampacked into a little space and probably drove my mom nuts tearing up her house, but we're glad we came! thursday started off with a 5k at the junior high. lisa and i jogged the turkey trot.we did this two years ago and there were only about 50 people. this year there were like 650! i did not expect to see half my class there :) no, just a few.
but i felt silly in my funny running clothes and slow pace. lisa has always been tougher than me, and went ahead during the race to finish 4 minutes ahead of what i came in at. it was pretty cold, but luckily the wind wasn't blowing! we even had a few fans at the end, but my most important ones missed me. ben couldn't find their winter coats (they were laid out) and so they were freezing and got back in the pickup. oh well, atleast they made it! they even saw the turkey but were a little leery! i'm just glad i didn't pass out and die.

we got lunch/dinner made by 1 for all the starving little pilgrims and grandpa kunzler also joined us. i ate way too much and it really hurt. the holidays are when i gained a bunch of weight when i was pregnant with bentley. i'm afraid i better curb what i started or i'll be well on that path again after today's dr's appointment! yikes! our lunch was delicious!!! thanks for all the contributions from everyone...the pies, the rolls, the jelly and pickles, the turkey, the homemade cranberry sauce. oh so good! that nite ben rented the movie "forever strong". it was a surprisingly good movie! on friday we got up and went on our tree hunting venture to sublett reservoir. our family, the wright's, and mom headed up while dad stayed home to bring in a load of calves. we took a small detour and then found a few trees that weren't that far off the beaten path. i was carsick by the time we stopped and didn't even think to change my shoes. i nearly slipped to my death in my boots made for walking in a mall. hopefully the tree doesn't look too charlie brown style when we put it up! the day was super nice and we even stopped at the campground there and had a picnic lunch. turkey sandwiches of course! that afternoon mom and i made some christmas bread, an annual tradition and then we took the kids bowling. bentley won us all with those bumpers as well as dropping his ball on ben's foot! alan and whitney came that nite and it was fun to see them and visit for a little bit. it seems like our schedules never time up right to be able to get together too much.all in all we had a wonderful holiday! there is nothing better than family. the cousins have so much fun together getting into all of uncle alan's farm toys, doing projects with grandma, waitng for grandpa outside the bathroom door, and overwatering her plants while they all take a bath in the big tub. good times! good times!

Nice work on the turkey trot. I had to train for mine and I as not pregnant.
We'll be home for Christmas so hopefully we'll see you then!

I'm glad you came for Thanksgiving. Even with the crowded space it was fun to have everyone come home. Thanks for making the effort to come and for enjoying the holiday with us.
