Popcorn Popping

when i "looked out my window" wednesday nite on the way home from mutual at sis. davis' all i could see were blossoms in the orchards, green fields, and the sun going down over the river and the owyhees. sometimes i get so caught up in what is going on day to day and in my own little world at my house/office/yard, that i forget the beauty that is right outside my door. who better to share the beauty of the earth with then my little boys?

while we were out with ben checking water last nite, we saw more "popcorn popping" and we picked a bag of asparagus. oh, the memories of asparagus. we used to have two, very grassy ditches in front of our house growing up. cars would come out from town each spring and line up for the taking...but, we usually beat them to it unless it was while we were at church.
there was net wire fences to hop over, snakes (my personal favorite), and the dive bomber hawk overhead while we picked. mom would always have me and lisa fill up a grocery bag for grandma every time they stopped by after a trip to the tire shop or feed store. the worst part as a kid was that i thought the stuff tasted like weeds...i still don't like it much steamed, but love it grilled, broiled, or pickled! happy asparagus hunting everyone and don't forget to stop and watch the popcorn popping!!!

What are the pink blossoms? One thing I miss about living in the country is watching the sunset every evening. Too many houses in the way here!
Ahhh...asparagus hunting. Those were the days. It still gives me the creeps...long snakes curled around the asparagus plants. Yuck!
