Rose Nose

somehow updating this blog makes me feel better that i am somehow not letting time escape thru my fingertips...even though it has! where has the time run off to these days? well, hopefully i will update with some pictures soon to get caught up...and show you just how much excitement (ha ha) we have had in the past, few weeks since this is our family journal and we just can't let it fall thru the cracks!

the other morning, ben had been out working late, so i got up at my usual time of about 6:45 (i know, slacker!) and a wall of stench hit me. it was definently skunk. when ben woke up later, he didn't notice anything at all...that's when i was brought to remembrance that i have the 'rose nose.' it comes from my mom's side of the family, whose last name are rose. i have to say, it is probably my strongest sense...and what's more, i can identify the smell usually. i know it's crazy, and when it's a stinky smell, it's not the most pleasant...but i can almost guarantee that it's gonna get passed on (by the way, when ben went out, the skunk had been run over on the road about a 1/2 mile from our house). bentley is pretty good at sniffing stuff out all ready...and speaking of him, i thought i'd share a few words that he uses that are so funny...like, ben brought him home a new swather and he calls it his 'wather', he wants his door shut at night 'sofy' (softly), he goes on sunday to 'ursry' (nursery), and he has an uncle bradie (bradley). and how do little kids remember so much? he is 2 1/2 and he all ready knows what roads people live on (even if we go the back way), where we ate...even if it was once forever ago, that we had chickens last year in our coop (he was only one)? anyway!

little bridon is growing big and turned 4 months last week. he still has a bit of a problem with the sleep schedule, thus contributing to the said time problem i am having. but, we love him tons. lots of times, he is content to just relax and he smiles so much! he is big enough now to reach for things and look closely at his toys and such. one of the craziest things i've done lately occured the other nite with him. i had just gotten bentley out of the tub and started in on my usual chase to wrangle him down and brush his teeth...something distracted me and i ended up grabbing bridon and brushing his teeth...yikes! okay, he has no teeth! he made a pretty strange face tasting thomas the train toothpaste for the first time. i really am losing my marbles!

this post really made me laugh!
about the butterfly--i thought ours was a goner, it planted it's cocoon on a leaf, the leaf curled up and died, and the cocoon sunk to the very bottom of the jar. it really is amazing that it made it.
hope you have had a good week, are you still canning?! (you have to stop, it makes me feel like a slacker)
you know my tomato bushes? their alive! i've harvested 3 huge tomatoes with a bushel more to come! guess my trimming was effective.

Skunk talk reminded me of the skunk incident at the Burley Tennis courts. Remember??
