i am not sure how august came and went so quickly?! i swear i'm going to wake up and be 80. here we have some of the fun things we did in august, in no particular order...

we got ben to actually take a 1/2 day off work, heaven forbid (only because he was forced into it by his own family). the western idaho fair contacted ben and i to feature mcintyre farms inc as 'farm family for the day'. we had to submit pictures, so we took a few, which was no small feat. then, they did a little write up and gave loren, ben, and brad and wives each a ticket to come over to the ag pavilion there to get our award and see the display they made. all the kids and family came. the joint is a total DUDE fair, but nevertheless, we had a great time and you could tell loren and kathy were quite proud of the accomplishment-which they should rightfully be. the kids had a great time milking a cow, participating in the tractor pull, digging thru the corn, eating fair food, and mostly going into the ridiculously overpriced carnival. i set a limit on how much we would be paying for carnival rides and jill and i split a big card of tickets to save some $. by the time we were done, there were some real crazies, scantily clad teenagers, etc. coming out of the woodwork, so we headed to the car, stopped by the monkey show which all of them loved (even ellee), and headed home. bridon had lost his front tooth that day (ben pulled it a little too soon) but he and emerson made it to the finals in the tractor pull, yeehaw! bentley loved all the thriller rides. he and i went on vertigo, and i could tell he was a little apprehensive, but it was fun! i'm not sure if our family will participate in the fair like i did growing up. it is bittersweet. a lot of the activities in this area are on sunday that involve 4-H, rodeos, fair...so, at this point, it's not for us.

the kids enjoyed having fun outside during august; it was hot, but not over the top. bentley always finds some activity that occupies him for a time...this day we had gone to get everyone's cavities and cleanings done at the dentist. these bales were only here for a short time, so the fun ended.
emerson loves to swing!!! her and ellee hit up the swing set quite a bit. i really need to revamp that thing, but alas, there are so many things i need to do and don't get done. that is the story of my life!
we had a few rain storms on 3rd crop...and out came the frogs! the boys had so much fun getting all the frogs out of the window well. they completely demolished the area before i could stop them, including one of my perennials that i had planted in the spring that was doing so well :(.
the frogs stuck around for awhile. they were even here after we earned all of our money for this blow-up slip and slide!!! it came in the mail and it took us 5 weeks to earn enough money. bentley, especially, worked very hard to get this. ellee loved the 'fogs'...a lot!!!she did not like the slide though, because it sprays water on you as you go down.
when natalie came home, we ventured into the extended family reunion (a bit painful) and then all the sisters and me (no ben) and a brother took the kids out to taggert's slip and slide. they are so nice for letting us come there every so often. it is a lot of fun. and, finally, we couldn't end the post without something from bridon. i just thought this was one of the funniest pictures ever, with those goggles on and launching out into the air. bridon, you are a special soul:).
