bentley played his first season of optimist flag football. it started in august and ended yesterday. the boys did great and 'won' all their games, really. they don't keep score, but they made the most touchdowns. ben helped out when he could with coaching. the head coach, matt, was so awesome! he was so patient with the boys and helped them so much; he gave so much time! his kids (girl and boy) move onto tackle next year, so i am sad we won't be together and we'll have to choose what we want to do. this league is pretty serious and intense if you don't end up with a great coach like we did, so we shall see. bentley enjoyed learning and looked forward to practice and his games. his position was on the offensive line. one of his funnest little games was our only 'away' game. we lucked out and played marsing! it was so fun for the boys to play on a real, high school field and have the fans on the bleachers and the concession stand open with someone announcing the whole time. the marsing team was super young and inexperienced, so each boy got to try out a different position. bentley almost made a touchdown! it was fun hearing his name called over the speaker.

something funny was the fundraiser cards the kids were supposed to sell. bentley sold 10! he did it before school started. every time someone would pull in to fill up at the diesel tanks, he would run up and sell a card to the captive audience!:) all the employees were good sports!

grandma mcintyre made it to one of bentley's games before her knee surgery and grandpa was able to come to a couple. that was so nice! grandma and grandpa moncur came up yesterday for his last game. he had a fun little team and even though it was crazy getting everyone into practices and carting them into the overcrowded field on saturdays, it was fun. i'm glad he had this opportunity and hope he learned something about himself and others while doing it...we enjoyed getting to know the parents. it was a great group of people all around.
