Mother's Influence

this week we had visitors! first, the wright's came and we enjoyed nearly 3 days of warm weather! we look forward to their visits. the kids play so well together. we jumped on our new trampoline, took a picnic to the lake and got all wet, shopped, had a very rowdy family photo session, ate pizza, and played some more. thanks for coming! mom came sunday afternoon and had dinner with us on mother's day. we went up to polo cove and picked loads of asparagus with her and kathy and loren. as i get older and more wrinkly :), i am finally getting through my thick skull some of the things my mother taught me by example. in our ward, a quote was read from one of the gen. authorities something to the effect that no matter how far you go or how far you try to run from it, the influence of your mother is a part of you. she makes you who you are! what a blessing i was raised by a righteous mother who always tried to do her best. thanks mom. i am also thankful for ben's mom and the things both he and i learn from her. my sister is my lifesaver in mothering and many other departments. i don't know what i would do if i didn't have her to talk to about all the day to day craziness i find myself in. she is one of my best examples. i pray everyday that i am not screwing up what i am supposed to be teaching and doing with my own children. i love each one of them and i want to take the best of everything that i have seen and learned and put it all into their little minds. they are so precious! i hope they will put up with me and all my quirks as i try to help them find the potential that heavenly father has put inside each one of them. happy mother's day!
