bentley just completed his first session of swimming lessons last week. he took them from a young woman in our ward who's home from college and got nice, one-on-one time with her. now he just needs a little push from some peers to get him using his skills. it was fun, and he looked forward to going each day...except the day i forgot his swim trunks. bridon and i got in twice, and the boy is a dare devil. it is so interesting what scares him, what works him up, etc. he is a funny little boy. grandma moncur even got to see bentley on his last day since she was here helping us out. she kindly came to visit for a couple of days so that i could do some of my work and 'projects'. i'll admit, i didn't get as much done as i thought i would, but we really enjoyed her visit. it was so nice not to pay a babysitter to go work in the office, to have a meal ready two nites in a row that i didn't have to cook, someone to walk with at nite (even though poor bentley (mostly) and the rest of us were attacked by mosquitoes), and someone here to help me bathe and put all the kids down at nite!!! yeah! i did get a lot caught up in the office, my back door painted, touch up work done, and a flower arrangement made. thanks so much mom. the boys love your school projects and your books!
i thought i'd include a funny, swimming lesson story from my childhood. sometimes i need a good laugh when i feel like a crazy person with my hair falling out in gobs, my baby locked in the car at church with a practical joke gone wrong resulting in a rash decision to bash the newly, tinted window out, a phone call that my dad is in the hospital with chest pains, 9 dead tomato plants and 2 dead trees, and, well, you don't need to be bothered with my list. here's the story (i hope you don't mind lisa...i don't think many people read this thing anyway! :)
me and my sister took swimming lessons one summer at the burley pool. we were in separate classes and i'm sure i wasn't much of a swimmer, but lisa had a true distaste for the water. the highlight of the lessons was to be a trip to the deep end to jump off the diving board. we all got out and took our turns. then it was time for lisa's class. she started screaming and latched her fingers tightly around the chain link fence next to the diving board, not to be pried loose. all the while mom sat on a park bench reading the newspaper. finally, one of the teachers asked if anyone knew this little girl. mom didn't claim her, but i did. i don't think she jumped off the diving board ever that year, or the year after!

You had to break the window out of your car??? There's a story I want to hear more about! As for swimming lessons, I hated them too. I can totally sympathize with you, Lisa. Hope to see you soon!
Fill us in on the car story!! Hopefully emry was okay :)
ahh...good times at the pool. i still do embarrassing things all the time--evidently it began at an early age!
Your mom is a smart woman!! I'm afraid I might have to use the no-claiming tactic in the future :) You have had quite a crazy time recently....I'm sorry, have you ever led a boring life??
Ah, yes, the Burley pool. So many memories. That's hilarious that your mom just ignored her!
Sorry you had a rough week. I hope things have improved.
Is Uncle Stan okay? Give our love to everyone.
