Heritage

since we celebrated father's day this week, i thought it'd be appropriate to write this little post. first of all, the pictures within this are part of the father's day gift that ben and i gave his dad. these were some of my favorite shots of the haying so far this year.

i've just been thinking lately about raising our children and how much work and thought it takes to try and do it right. i know that many women just look at their husband's job of a farmer as a way to get a paycheck (ha, ha my mom would say :) but, i look at it as a way of life! i am so thankful to my dad for always being willing to take us along and (especially me) letting me try and fail at all the jobs that i'm sure sometimes cost him more money and time than i was worth! i grew to love the way of life and really enjoyed growing up the way i did and going with him and my brother and sister to work. sometimes on my mission i would long for a day of moving handlines since i was so far away and in a different climate.

i can't really describe the feeling, except when you're away from it! when i got back, i had my eye out for a farmer who shared my views and the love of the land and open spaces. thanks to ben's dad, loren, for this...he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to farming! and yes i'm weird and like to read farm magazines and listen in on the conversations...probably why i can't give up the bookkeeping around here! i am so blessed to have ben here to teach our little boys. all ready they love to go with him and bentley will tell you exactly what is going on with each piece of equipment and field that he is in. it is a rich heritage in my eyes and one i hope continues on and on. happy father's day to you all!!!

It was so fun to have you come and visit on Father's Day. Thanks for sharing your memories of growing upp on the farm. It means a lot to your dad and I. I'm grateful you are able to raise your family on a farm and hope they will enjoy it as much as you did. Keep up the good work!

Maria, I just love reading your thoughts and words. You put it out there just like it is; and whatever you have to say really hits home with me. You mentioned before about your camera. What kind do you have now? I'm sure it's the person behind it getting the good shots. All your pictures are great. Take Care.
