(i think...) today i canned a batch of pears and only have a 1/2 box left. i'm pretty sure i am DONE for the season! i only had 2 FULL, buckets of broccoli on friday to freeze from the garden and some miscellaneous tomato stuff. i am canned out! unless, of course, saxton's fruit stand sells $3 boxes of nectarines at the end of season, but i'll just dry those. did i mention i did a dry pack session as well on friday? our ward is serious about it...it is like a factory! anyway, one of the new things i tried out this year was peach salsa. if anyone's interested in the recipe, let me know...i think it turned out pretty good! i threw in a picture of bentley enjoying his most favorite produce from the garden...red beets! i have one picking left, and then they'll all be from the jar. happy canning everyone!
p.s. how did our mom's do it, is all i have to say!? my mom taught us all this stuff, kept up a huge garden, AND worked full-time or drove harvest truck as a 'side note'! my mother-in-law had NINE little hooligans to watch after while she was, can i say, MASS-producing bottles of beans, peaches, pears, etc...hats off to you moms!

Good job! That is so awesome! I dried a ton of bananas and peaches and made freezer jam because you motivated me! See...look what a blog can inspire people to do!
wow, your pears look really nice. doesn't it feel nice to have your cupboards stocked again?
Bentley is such a great eater! I wish my children would eat vegetables! Tylee is doing good so far...
okay you are amazing, all the things you accomplish in 1 days time wow! i need a lesson, i feel like i just walk in circles doing damage control sometimes i love your boys red face so cute!!!
You are doing better than most...I visit good old WINCO for my food storage! But I don't know how our moms did it either!
You go girl! You're a canning machine it looks like. It's fun to see all your pics of your cute kids!
The question is How do you do it!?!? You are amazing. I am a want-to-be-canner, and I'm blaming the lack of it on not finding good fresh produce down here.
Your pears do look very nice! I don't know how our mothers did it either! I really appreciate my Mom for "making" us help her with canning. I knew it would pay off someday!
I'm impressed. I think I canned something once. Don't remember what though. And I don't think I can find many people in my ward here to show me how. Maybe I'll come for a lesson someday.
