after the temple open house and seth's baptism, i took the kids and spent the nite at my parents. ben went home with his family, and the next day i took off to spend a couple of days with lisa and her family in tremonton. i really needed a break and getting to talk and spend time together was a lot of fun. we attended church on sunday, went for a walk, and enjoyed the evening...then on monday, we attempted a canning session. lisa has an apricot tree that is loaded and has the biggest, yummiest apricots. thanks for sharing! so, we put some up in quarts and made some fruit leather (which all stuck down to the trays)...but i guess we tried. if you've read lisa's blog, you'll see that we probably really are crazy! why do we do this sort of stuff??? the craziest thing was to come...a HUGE bucket of apples that were loaded with worms. we threw most of them away, but in the end, had 6, delicious pints of applesauce to split between us. i know, we're nuts! we took the kids swimming that nite at an awesome public pool down in brigham city. i suppose this was my favorite part of the trip...it was a beautiful nite and bentley and blaiz had so much fun going down the slides. they both even went with me down the BIG, waterslide, twice! tylee did good and bridon just relaxed on his little, donut in the water (he was such a good traveler!). the next day, we made a small shopping run over to logan. i found some clothes at old navy for the boys, but that was it...my shopping days are over, i just don't enjoy it anymore! at lunch time, we had a picnic at willow park and then let the kids see the animals at the "zoo". the little boys were tuckered out on the ride home. what a great visit! thank you so much!
on to mom and dad's...bentley loved spending time with grandma and reading the choo choo book. we picked more apples, but this time from a worm-free tree. we did a batch of sliced apples and then i picked up a bunch of food storage that i had ordered from the cannery in burley (much more convenient than garden city!) mom sent us home with all the canned apples and a loaf of bread...and a promise to let bentley stay the nite by himself if he will start using the potty. thanks mom, for everything you do for us! we had a great trip, but we missed daddy, so we came home! now, we're drying apricots and making applesauce here...and catching up on a lot of other work, but it was worth it!

I'm glad your travels were fun. I don't know what it is about canning... It must be in the genes. anyway, I'm sure you'll enjoy the apples this winter and will feel a little more prepared with your food storeage. You're a good wife and mother! Keep up the good work!
