Ok...sometimes we get away! Washington D.C. trip

ben and i spent our 'free' vouchers on a trip to see the national city. it was a toss up between that and the florida keys, but we are so happy we took this opportunity, as neither one of us had been to d.c. it just so happens that the nite before we left, ben and his mom remembered family friends were living there, so seth and keeli billings were our awesome 'tour' agents and put us up on their hide-a-bed, as well as great sightseeing tips and a tour of the capital from a family friend on my side, camille wells..who is interning with sen. crapo! ok, enough intros...here goes our trip and all that we saw. thanks to mom and dad mcintyre for watching b-boy...it was my second time only, leaving him and i do have to admit, i missed the little guy, but not all the work :) we saw it all (white house, monuments, arlington, temple, the wharf, smithsonians, national archives, holocaust museum, and more!) but here is a small, recap using pictures...enjoy!

at the national art gallery...george washington had awesome portraits in the presidential area (check out bill clinton's for a good laugh)

the american history museum was our favorite of the smithsonians...of course, we had to take a pic of john deere's first plow..but there was so much more! dorothy's ruby slippers, the MASH sign (for dad), abe lincoln's top hat, nauvoo temple sunstone, kermit the frog..ect!

the 2nd nite we were there was extremely mild temps...we went around the white house and hit almost all the monuments...lincoln, fdr, vietnam vets, wwII, etc!

in front of the washington and jefferson monuments...it was a bit windy and cold this day and our feet killed from all the walking!

this is the jefferson monument...after hearing all the 'enlightening' presidential debates it was so refreshing to read the quotes and hear the reasons we were founded by god-fearing people. these men were amazing...as were others later on; i think our presidents now need some new writers...haven't heard anything profound lately!

that nite we met camille and went to georgetown...a bit blurry, but this is us after a delicious meal at a french restaurant!

arlington cemetary...ben is in front of jfk's burial site, the flame is always lit

top of the washington monument with the billings' family...555 ft 5 1/8 inches tall!

washington d.c. temple is absolutely beautiful and huge! the front side has stained glass that goes clear up the tower (our favorite part)...it has 7, working floors!
